I had great fun speaking at the Making Cities Liveable Conference in Melbourne this month. I spoke about how engagement is essential to the success of the energy efficiency programs in apartment complexes. This comes from the research undertaken over three and a half years into the Smart Blocks program.
I shared the session with Sally from the City of Yarra who spoke about the process of generating community sustainability programs, where it was also acknowledged that engagement with community is the key to success.
There were other fabulous speakers doing some amazing things; but most commonly around the community. Whether it was building more engaging aged care facilities to transforming suburban streets into communities. Key to all the discussions was around – having an initial conversation, many times with many different people.
It was also great to catch up with some old friends and talk about how positive the future looks and bask in the glow of some very clever people.
And my next speaking gig is at the International Green Building Conference in Singapore on the 2nd of September – can’t wait!!
The gorgeous Annie Whitton and friends enjoying the conference.
